Box Elder County has an opening for a Senior Accounting Clerk/Deputy II. The Senior Accounting Clerk/Deputy II works under the direction of the County Chief Deputy Auditor and performs a variety of clerical duties related to the accounting functions of Box Elder County.  Applicant should have at least two years of College coursework in bookkeeping and general office procedures, and one year of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CLASS TITLE: Senior Accounting Clerk/Deputy II

DEPARTMENT: Auditor

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of clerical duties related to the accounting functions of Box Elder County.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

 Works under general supervision of Chief Deputy Auditor.

 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Verifying employees’ work hours and payment through the payroll system, issuing deductions, earnings and other statements to employees and updating payroll records regularly

 

Receives all County monies in proper categories and forwards to County Treasurer.

 

Responsible for receiving, processing, and verifying invoices related to accounts payables. Will be responsible for the weekly check run.

 

Answers telephone and receives incoming visitors, responds to inquiries.

 

Performs other duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

            1.         Education and Experience

 

A.  At least two years College course work in bookkeeping, general office procedures.

                                                                           AND

B.  One (1) year of experience related to the above duties.

                                                                            OR

C.  Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

            2.         Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

A thorough and extensive knowledge of modern bookkeeping practices and procedures.

 

Skill in operating a calculator; skill in operating personal computer(s) and printers.

 

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Physical requirements are those normally expected in an administrative office atmosphere with lifting not to exceed 50 pounds.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be bondable.

Must be able to successfully pass Drug Screen.
