(Promontory) June 21, 2022--This afternoon, Box Elder County workers were involved in two separate worksite accidents in the Promontory area. In the first accident, a worker sustained a serious injury and was transported to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
In a second accident that immediately followed, a worker died on site. Box Elder County is cooperating with Utah State Parks and the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Division as they work on the investigation.
Both employees were workers for the Weed Control Department. Both accidents occurred while the employees were working.
“Our first concern is for the employees and their families. Our hearts are with them in the face of this terrible tragedy,” said Anne K. Hansen, a representative for Box Elder County.
The names of the employees will not be released at this time pending family notification.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
