Be part of a powerful moment in Box Elder County's history as we honor the extraordinary sacrifice of the Borgstrom family at the Street Renaming Ceremony of Highway 102, soon to be known as the Borgstrom Brothers Memorial Highway.
Location: Midland Square, Tremonton
Time: 2:30 PM on Friday, October 25th
This event is not just a ceremony; it’s a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of the Borgstrom family, whose story of bravery and loss resonates deeply within our community. Utah State Governor Spencer J. Cox will officially announce the renaming of this vital stretch of road, which stretches from Deweyville through Tremonton's Main Street and past the historic Borgstrom farm in Thatcher.
Eighty years ago, Alben and Gunda Borgstrom of Thatcher faced an unimaginable tragedy, losing four of their five sons in World War II within just six months. Their sacrifice embodies the spirit of courage and commitment to freedom that we cherish today.
A special thank you to Tremonton City Mayor Lyle Holmgren for inviting the community to partake in this important tribute. Your dedication to honoring the Borgstrom family's legacy means the world to us.
Let’s come together as a community to pay our respects and remember the incredible price this family paid for our liberty. Together, we can ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.
