The Box Elder County GIS Office is part of the Recorder's Office, located on the bottom floor of the Historic County Courthouse.

What is GIS?

GIS, or Geographic Information Systems, is essentially computer mapping. The GIS department creates, manages, and maintains geographical data for the County. This information helps County departments visualize relationships, enhance decision-making, gather and collect data efficiently, and improve organizational integration.

GIS Data and Services

Box Elder County GIS manages a wide range of data, including:

  • Base Data: Aerial imagery, LiDAR, and other foundational maps.
  • Cadastral Data: Tax parcels, surveys, and subdivisions.
  • Environmental Data: Rivers, water bodies, and land use.
  • Administrative Areas: Voting districts, zoning areas, and emergency response districts.
  • Transportation Data: Road centerlines and street signs.
  • Address Points: Locations and more.

This data is constantly updated and maintained by the County GIS team.

Accessing GIS Information

GIS information is available through interactive web maps and paper maps. The County's GIS website shares news and provides access to this data.

The County Surveyors Office is tasked with:

  • Maintaining Section Corners within the County.
  • Filing and making public all surveys conducted within Box Elder County.
